Maarit Nevanperä is KPJAYI authorized ashtanga yoga teacher based in Helsinki, Finland. She started
practicing ashtanga yoga in 1997 and has been teaching yoga since 2000. Currently she works in Helsinki
Ashtanga Yoga School and various companies, dance schools and other yoga shalas around in Finland.
Maarit has a long experience teaching many kinds of students from beginners to dedicated long term yoga
practisers. Besides traditional yoga studies in Mysore and Finland Maarit has an education of classic and
sports massage and good general knowledge of human anatomy.
Maarit did her first trip to India and Sri K. Pattabi Jois Shala in 2001 and still she continues to study
ashtanga yoga with Guru R Sharath Jois. Chanting and yoga philosophy she has been studying with Sri
Lakshmish Bhat, Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Sri.M.A. Narasimhan In Mysore and Vijaya Kumar Manja who
is based in Pandeshwar.
Maarit has M.A. degree in Fine Arts and still keep working as artist as much it is possible with busy life
of yoga teacher and mother of two sons. Her free time she likes to spend in Finnish countryside and is
interested among other things anthropology, arts and religions.
